New Beginnings

What Up Peeps!

My friend Nicky H. is an UBER talented local photographer that I’ve known since I was 15. We lost contact for a few years, recently reconnected and linked up a couple weeks ago to shoot these shots. I was at the site for just under an hour and love about 90% of these photos! I appreciate how God always brings the right people into your life. Something dope always happens with the images Nicky and I produce and these will be no different. Mark my words, things are about to change in the best way possible for ya girl 🙂 Enjoy a few of the pics below.

P.S.- You can also get a better look at the twelve dollar slip dress mentioned in my last post as I’m also wearing it in some of these shots. I saw myself wearing this dress with my black boyfriend blazer sitting atop a stool just before the shoot and I love how it turned out.

Thankful For New Beginnings,

Twelve Dollar Slipdress

What Up Peeps,

I’M ALIVE!!!! I can’t believe it’s been over two months since I’ve blogged. I’ll warn you in advance, this is not my usual full- length DOD post. I merely wanted to slide in and say hello 🙂 I did however post a new piece in SophiaTroy Speaks and I hope you check it out. Last week, I went to HH with a friend and we stopped into  a local plant shop to kill some time. That day, I happened to be rocking this $12 slip dress I recently picked up from Last Chance. I’ve been stalking a slip dress for a minute so I was glad to grab this one. I’ll spare you the full ensemble details since there not visible but enjoy the few snaps she captured  (Thanks Sid!)

I promise to be more consistent in posting so we’ll talk soon!

Peace & Love.

Girls, Girls, Girls.

What-Up Peeps!!!

How the heck have you been? I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I’ve blogged!!! (ya girl is slippin) I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday: mine was spent with family, friends, great food, too much booze and LOTS of rest 🙂

A couple months ago, I saw the lovely Mariah Rideau post this adorable jacket on her blog citing she bought it on sale at Forever 21. So imagine my delight when I hit up my local store about a month ago and found it in my size for a whopping $9.00. I’m OBSESSED with this piece!!!!! I’m not sure if you can make out all the details of this light-wash, distressed denim jacket but it actually has little lightening bolts sprinkled throughout. In addition to that, I love the word Girls that’s embalmed on the back because……. ummm who runs the world?! I’ve rocked this a couple times  and always receive compliments when I wear it.

In case you can’t tell from my last couple posts, I’m currently indulging my inner- sneaker head. Now obviously I love a good heel but I also have a serious penchant for retro kicks. Recently, I copped these Nike Cortez black low tops on sale in the big kids section of Nike’s website ( Thank-God for narrow feet) This time around, I loved pairing this jacket with my trusty faux leather leggings, a lace camisole and my beauty store hoop earrings. Before hanging out with a friend this weekend, I had her snap of few pics so I could share with you all.

Everything about this ensemble makes my heart sing: I love being cute, sexy, and comfortable all at the same time. See the price breakdown below.

Jacket-$9.00, Forever 21

Leggings- $5.00, Last Chance

Camisole- $1.00, Forever 21

Sneakers- $50, Nike Website

Total: $65

Diva on a Dime: Bordeaux Booties

What Up Peeps!!

Geesh this intro picture is the size of a freaking billboard 🙂 I HAD to slide in here real quick and post about my new favorite ankle boots. But first, let me tell you how the devil tried to steal my joy: I ordered these satin, sock feet beauties from Public Desire UK( Yes, they shipped from Europe) just before I moved  and because I was unsure of how quickly I would close on my home, I ordered them to my old apartment even though in my Spirit I felt like I should  send them to my new address.  Long story short, they were delivered to my old address the day after I moved  despite my mail forwarding request going into  effect and I had to wait an ENTIRE MONTH for the post office to locate them. Nonetheless, I finally got my hands on them but was reminded that God leads us in the most mundane moments of our lives and we should never ignore His promptings.

I also recently purchased a vintage Pink Floyd tee for $10 in the boys department at Old Navy and knew that I wanted to style these boots with that tee, my wide-leg denim trousers featured in a previous post, and my classic denim jacket that I’ve had since the 10th grade. I LOVED everything about this look: comfy, classic, and with a bit of an edge just like I like it.

I’ve listed the link to the boots in the breakdown below, please note that my bordeaux color is no longer available but they do come in a variety of colors including the electric blue ones I initially  thought I’d buy. I leave to Costa Rica in a couple days, so I need to get packing 🙂

Ensemble Breakdown:

Elsa Sock Fit Ankle Boots- Public Desire $49.99:

Pink Floyd Tee- Old Navy $10

Forever 21 Wide Leg Denim Capri’s-$20

Jacket- Vintage

Total: 79.99

Peace & Love,

SophiaTroy Speaks: In The Quiet

Whatup Peeps!

I have a confession: Sometimes, I’m not the best at expressing my feelings. Despite being incredibly outgoing, I tend to carry a lot of things inside. In the last couple years, writing has proven to be an excellent outlet for me to express myself and not keep things pent up. Today, I will launch a series of posts entitled SophiaTroy speaks, whenever you see a blog with this title, know that you are in for some musings of my mind. First up, is a piece entitled ” In The Quiet”. I’ve been seeking God for some very specific things for what feels like FOREVER, and have had to remind myself that there is beauty in the silence of the Father. It is in those moments, that trust and patience are refined as we expectantly wait before Him, eagerly anticipating what He has to say and  expectantly looking to Him to act on our behalf. I hope you enjoy it!

In The Quiet

Seeking Your Heart and Not Your Hand

Waiting Patiently To Try and Understand

Tried So Many Times To No Avail

You Speak To My Heart and Say It is All Well

In The Quiet, In The Stillness, You Are Still God, I’m a Witness

That Everything WIll Be Just Fine

I Am Yours And You Are Mine

Gave Me The Courage To Try Just One More Time

My Failures Held More Lessens Than Met The Eye

An Overflow Of Peace And So Much Joy

Standing in Places I’ve Only Dreamed Of Before

In The Quiet, In The Stillness, You Are Still God, I’m A Witness

That EverThing Will Be Just FIne

I Am Yours And You Are Mine

No-One Can Take Away What is Birthed in The Quiet Times

Your Hearing in Sharpened, Your Character Refined

He Heals You From The Inside Out, Just in The Knick of Time

Peace & Love,
