A couple months ago, out of nowhere, I had the desire to purchase a pair of mom jeans. That style never appealed to me before but seeing as though I have an obsession with high-waisted jeans, I thought I should give this silhouette a try. I like how this look has a retro feel but can also be made into a modern style when paired with the right pieces. Of course, I then went over to my trusty Forever 21 website( I should take stock in this company) and found this awesome pair of jeans for $25.00! This particular pair comes from the Love 21 line which offers items that are typically a size larger than the standard size; given the fact that you should go up a size when wearing high-waisted denim, it worked out perfectly!
This time around, I decided to pair these jeans with a $7.00 shirt that I picked up at a vintage shop on a trip I took to Portland a couple summers ago ( No sales taxes….YASSS), my nude strappy Steve Madden heels, and a $5.00 belt I purchased at a thrift shop. Can I tell you how much I LOVE these jeans!! They are super comfortable, I love the wash of the denim, and I already have the next 5 ways I would like to style them lined up in my mind 🙂 The high-neck collar of the shirt was a perfect combination. Who knew mom jeans could look this good?!

P.S.- You gotta love a parking lot photo shoot 🙂
I hope the New Year has been treating you all MARVELOUSLY 🙂 If you didn’t know, I’m currently living in Phoenix and we are experiencing an unseasonably cold winter( El Nino, kick rocks) Although I dislike being cold, I prefer this weather to the sweltering heat we experience during the summer and early Fall. Since the weather has been pretty dreary, this is the perfect time to purchase a winter wardrobe staple; the turtleneck. I was pleased to find this gem for $7.00 on sale at Forever 21 and knew that I wanted to pair it with tights, platform ankle boots, and my all-time favorite faux leather A-line miniskirt that I bought from Topshop 3 years ago. I’m glad that my skirt is high-waisted because I underestimated just how much of a crop top this shirt is! Although I will say I enjoy the versatility of being able to wear this top with high waisted bottoms or bare my abs and layer it with a jacket and other accessories to keep me warm. Is there anything chicer than an all-black ensemble? This look is a simple way to achieve an effortless, sophisticated silhouette that can always be easily pulled off. Despite this skirt having some wear and tear, I REF– USE to throw it away because I’m obsessed with it( anybody else guilty of that?) when you find something that is versatile and works great on your body type, you rock that thing until you buy a replacement 🙂
What are some of you favorite all back ensemble’s? Please feel free to share in the comments. Below you will find the outfit cost breakdown.
Top: Cropped Turtleneck, Forever 21- $7.00
Tights: Forever 21- $1.00
